WIMBLEDON RESIDENTIAL

APD worked over a period of a few years, neogtiating Covid and changes in the clients brief, to produce a transformative refurbishment encouraging light and elegance in this residential home.

Overcoming Structural Complexities

In the heart of a Victorian semi-detached house lay our canvas - a compact garden and an aging structure. Our team embraced the challenge of carving out a basement with precision and finesse. Structurally intricate, the task involved supporting the existing house while excavating in a confined space with challenging soil conditions. Through meticulous engineering and strategic planning, we transformed adversity into opportunity, setting the stage for a remarkable transformation.

Creating a modern sanctuary

Navigating through the nuances of the project, we embarked on redefining the space for modern living. A rear extension redefined the property's layout, bringing the outside in. An expansive terrace seamlessly transitioned into a stylish London courtyard, adorned with architectural stonework and contemporary landscaping. Natural light became a guiding principle, with strategic placement of skylights and glass doors. Our innovative approach extended to the basement, where vertical full-light doors and a cleverly designed light well defied traditional norms, creating a sunlit haven below ground.

Personalised luxury

The essence of this project transcended aesthetics; it was about understanding the client's lifestyle and needs. We curated ensuite sanctuaries, recognising the importance of personal space for both the client and her family. The interiors radiate warmth, with a subtle, natural palette and tasteful finishes. A focal point, the staircase, marries form and function, crowned with a minimalist balustrade. Our dedication to the client's well-being was evident in the addition of a mini bar and gym, a testament to their trust in our expertise.

Throughout the journey, we nurtured a deep client-architect relationship, navigating challenges and changes together. The project unfolded over five years, a testament to the gradual evolution of design and the commitment to excellence. With every inch transformed and every challenge surmounted, the outcome stands as a testament to the power of collaborative innovation, turning adversity into an elegant, functional family haven.
